Binge drinking is a common practice on a Saturday night, but hate the dreaded hangover the following day. Common misconceptions about hangovers revolves around dehydration, which is only one of the many causes of hangover.
Here are some easy steps to mitigate the damage of so much alcohol.
- Multivitamins and rest are your friends.
Taking multivitamins and having plenty of sleep before and after drinking helps minimize the damage of binge drinking.
- Eat up before drinking.
Eating up before a party isn’t only a good idea but a must. Prefer a burger which contains Carbs, Protein and Fats this helps metabolize alcohol faster. Avoid food which are rich in Fibers like veggies.
- Binge on one type of drink.
Mixing up different types of drinks will surely lead to a bad hangover. Bubbles in beer and champagne accelerate the absorption of alcohol. According to studies when alcohol is produced a side product is also created which is known as congeners. Congeners are toxic chemicals which causes severe hangovers. Stick with clear liquors which contains less congeners.
- Indulge in a lot of water.
Drinking water will lessen the effects of dehydration while drinking. Drinking plenty of water before hitting the sack is very helpful preventing hangovers.
- A healthy breakfast is a must.
This is a no-brainer. Even in a regular day a healthy breakfast is a must. Skipping breakfast will only prolong the agony of a hangover. An empty stomach will lead to severe headaches and dizziness, so eat up.
- Take Ibuprofen when all else fails.
Even if you follow all the steps above, there are just days that you really overdid it. Take an Ibuprofen to get back on your feet within an hour.
